Location and Service Information
We meet every Shabbat (Saturday) at 11:00AM,
and the eve of every other Commanded feast day at 6pm (Erev Shabbat).
We are located at :
2561 Augusta Road
Langley, SC 29834
What to wear:
Since the synagogue is considered a house of God, it is usually appropriate to wear nice clothes.
Your clothing need not be expensive to be appropriate for any synagogue event. The main thing is to be clean, tidy, and modest in your dress. All are welcome, come as you are congregation. Our goal is to have a Shabbat worship service in His name, not focus on appearance as much as we want to honor God in the way he commands.
Neither men nor women will go wrong covering their heads in a synagogue, but it is NOT required,
For men cover the head with a kippah, yarmulke or skull cap, (there is a supply of them at the door).
For women it’s a safe bet for women to wear a hat or scarf. Some of our congregants wear beaded kippot.
It IS a requirement to wear a head covering when reading on the bimah.
We also typically wear tallis, but this is not obligatory. Men and women can wear a tallit in accordance with His commandment to wear Tzitziyot (fringes, tzitzit) found in Numbers 15:38. When the blessing over the marriage is recited Married men and women come to the front of the synagogue and drape the tall it over their heads.
Children:
We love our children and want them to be with us, to learn and participate on the most important day of the week.
We do have breastfeeding mothers attend our congregation and that is up to mothers to remain in the main sanctuary or to go into the nursery to feed their little blessings. Nobody is bothered by children nursing, or small children who might distract us.
